Sunreef 70 Charter in the British Virgin Islands aboard MAVERICK
The Sunreef 70 is a sought-after boat in private charter, and only a handful are available for crewed charter in the Caribbean. MAVERICK is one of them. She's based in the British Virgin Islands year-round and does all-inclusive crewed charters from $49,500 per week.
Why a Sunreef 70
The Sunreef 70 is a semi-custom catamaran, built by Sunreef Yachts in Gdańsk, Poland. She's 70 feet long with 36 feet of beam, and she displaces 70 tonnes. A monohull at a similar charter rate can't give you what that size buys. She sits stable and level, with far more deck space than a monohull of the same length. Twin engines make her reliable to maneuver, and she has a full sailing rig, so passages under sail are the real thing. The flybridge doubles as a sun lounge and a place to hang out. Up on the foredeck there's forward-facing seating, which most yards leave off.
For a group of 6-9 guests, she's about the right size. Nobody feels crowded, and she's still small enough to get into the quieter BVI anchorages that bigger superyachts can't reach.
About MAVERICK
MAVERICK is a 2013 Sunreef 70, and her interior had a full refit in 2019. Her owner specified the setup:
- 4 ensuite cabins sleeping 9 guests: 3 king-bed suites and 1 twin (2 singles plus 1 pullman)
- 3 professional crew: captain, chef and stew/deckhand
- All-inclusive Caribbean terms: three daily meals with wine, full ship's bar (top shelf included), fuel, BVI cruising permits and licenses
- Water toys: two Seabobs, eFoil, paddleboards, kayaks, snorkels, fishing gear
- Starlink satellite Wi-Fi, high-speed throughout the BVI cruising areas
- Tailor-made German Schramm mattresses, Loewe entertainment systems
She's one of relatively few Sunreef 70s chartering with crew in the British Virgin Islands right now.
Where MAVERICK sails
MAVERICK is based in Tortola year-round and sails all over the British Virgin Islands. That takes in The Baths on Virgin Gorda, the wreck of the RMS Rhone off Salt Island, the beach bars on Jost Van Dyke, and the protected anchorages at Norman Island and Cooper Island. The trade winds here are about as steady as you'll find in the Caribbean, and there are plenty of shallow bays to poke around in.
The standard rate covers cruising within BVI ports. Going farther, to the USVI or St. Martin, is possible by separate arrangement.
